In our second hour, Colleen McCarthy is the VP of Organ and Tissue Donation at Versiti and she returns to talk about the absolute importance of donating.
Joining Colleen is Gloria Werner, a mom who tragically lost her son, Cade, but he was able to help eight people with organ and tissue donation.
April 2025 - Flag Raising Event at Grafton Hospital

​Gloria had an INCREDIBLE day at Aurora Grafton Flag Raising for National Donate Life month. She had the privilege to share her story and help raise awareness for the 103,000 people waiting for a transplant and to honor all our donor heroes, like Cade! Thanks to all Play4Cade's Versiti friends for a great afternoon.

Gloria and Tom volunteered at the Versiti Donor Family Celebration! So fun to see our Versiti family again and honor our loved ones.
April 2024 - Flag Raising Event at St. Luke's Hospital

Gloria had the absolute honor of sharing their story at St. Luke’s at their Pause to Give Life flag raising to kick off donate life month! She want to thank the incredible staff at St. Luke’s and Versiti who made it such an awesome special event. She left there and her heart was full! Thank you to all who attended and made it happen!

​Gloria was out in the community at a local Lions event this weekend, spreading Cade's story of his gift of organ donation! Play4Cade prioritizes this as part of our mission statement!
June 2023 - K9 Cade & Deputy Mayer Interview

Dodge County Sheriff's Office welcomed K9 Cade, who was named after a 14-year-old boy Cade who tragically died in a car accident in 2017. Cade's legacy lives on through organ donations as well as a donation to help acquire and train K9 Cade. Thank you Dep. Mayer and K9 Cade for your service and commitment to keeping our communities safe.

May 2023 - Versiti Leadership Summit​

Yesterday I had the honor of sharing our story and our mission of raising awareness of organ donation through Play4Cade at the Versiti Leadership Summit in downtown Milwaukee. Thank you Kristin Paltzer from Versiti for inviting me to share with this incredible group. It is always great to see some of the wonderful people I’ve met through this journey! And always inspiring to meet some new ones.
April 2023 - Flag Raising Event​

Quite an exciting day for Play4Cade Gloria & Tom participated in the Versiti headquarters Pause to Give Life flag raising celebration in honor of donate life month. Last year they raised the flag in Honor of Cade and it flew all year in Cade's honor. Today they presented the Werner's that flag that they flew all year. Then they raised another flag, in honor of a young man named Jovan, who also died way too young and was able to save 4 lives through organ donation, just like Cade.
April 2023 - Flag Raising Event at Hartford Hospital​

Gloria was able to attend two hospitals today for their "Pause to Give Life" ceremonies... Aurora wash cty-Hartford raised their donate life flag at 10:08am and Pro Health memorial in Oconomowoc raised theirs at 1:08pm to signify that one person can save 8 lives. Then a moment of silence is observed. Today was a minute and four seconds, representing the 104,000 people still waiting for a transplant.

November 2022 - The Next Act Theater ​
​
Being a volunteer for Versiti leads to incredible opportunities for Gloria to share Cade's story with groups of people to encourage organ donation and to show that through organ donation, you may find a reason to smile again, to help others in a similar situation and/or to help educate people on organ donation. This past November, Gloria was able to share their story at the Next Act Theater in downtown Milwaukee before the presentation of 'The Tin Woman".
June 2022 - Donor Family Event

The Werner's were able to do just that as Gloria spoke at a Donor Family Event sharing Cade's Story and how they were able to grieve, and cope and deal with loosing him while also finding ways to bring good forward from his tragedy. It was a great way to share all about Play4Cade and the healing this event brings as well.
